Bassoon Lessons with Jack Fanning

Jack Fanning has been teaching the bassoon since 2015. Jack aims to make each lesson fun, enjoyable, educational, and informative. He has helped middle school and high school students win positions in youth orchestras and honor bands in California and North Carolina.

Jack is the principal bassoonist of the Carolina Philharmonic, second bassoonist with North Carolina Opera, and he freelances regularly with orchestras all over the east coast. He is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts student at UNC Greensboro, studying bassoon with Dr. Michael Burns and teaching theory and aural skills.

Jack earned a Bachelor of Music in Bassoon Performance at CSU Sacramento where he studied with Dr. David Wells. He then went onto earn his Masters of Music in Bassoon Performance at UNC Greensboro where he studied with Dr. Michael Burns. The tutelage of these great bassoonists fostered a love of music performance and education and sharing the passion of bassoon playing with younger students.

Jack also holds a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Music Theory from UNC Greensboro. His training specifically focused on pedagogy of music theory and the study of current trends in music theory.
